This Internet solution via satellite from Tooway is suitable for both businesses and consumers; residents and businesses in outlying areas, mobile data users such as SNG cars, fire departments or police, can enjoy a fast Internet connection via satellite. With download speeds of up to 30Mb, Tooway™ provides high-speed Internet via satellite.

As a result, users in peripheral regions are no longer dependent on a slow dial-up connection, expensive wireless Internet or the 3G /4G telephony technology (which is not available or malfunctions in many places). For example, Tooway is also suitable for events, festivals or other public gatherings, where 10,000 mobile smartphones want to connect to the Internet at the same time.

Tooway™ is designed for those Dutch or Belgian households deprived of a high-speed broadband Internet connection. It is also suitable for consumers looking for an alternative to traditional ways of accessing the Internet or who, for example, have a 2nd home elsewhere in Europe.

The Tooway™ solution consists of a satellite dish connected to the computer via a modem. It is the first two-way broadband Internet service via satellite that can offer the same speeds as ADSL and SDSL at equivalent costs.

Tooway™ provides broadband Internet without relying on existing infrastructure. Tooway™ services are divided into different packages, with only a 4-week Fair Access Policy. So You can use Your volume the way You want. If the volume is consumed, a low(er) speed remains. You can then wait until the new month becomes active or buy so-called volume boosters, which will bring Your speed back immediately.

In addition, Tooway™ can be configured for "triple-play" applications, allowing households to also easily connect digital television and telephony without additional equipment required.

The Tooway Ka satellite is positioned at 9° East and covers the continent with 80 so-called 'spot beams'; these are concentrated signals that each cover an area of a few hundred kilometers. Whereas traditional satellite signals serve the entire continent -or a large part of it- simultaneously, the use of spot beams allows frequencies to be efficiently reused in different regions without interference. This increases capacity. Each beam has a capacity of 900 Mbps, which is distributed to users.

The standard basic set is based on a ±75 cm dish; optionally, the set can also be based on a dish with a diameter of 120 cm. For even better signal reception, for example in less weather!

Internet via satellite also has some limitations, including:

• In case of heavy rainfall, the speed may be reduced or temporarily lost.
• To protect the user, with consumers, only the necessary ports are open for Internet and cloud services, apps and telephony. With the B2B solution, this is not the case and all ports are open.
• Response delay of about 1 second plus spoofing making the browsing experience appear slower (compared to Internet over fiber or ADSL); real-time game play is therefore not possible.
• Due to a foreign IP address, some websites or services, such as Netflix, are not available.li>
• Some e-mail providers do not send mail (e.g., KPN).
• Relocation required for use in other countries.

The B2B solution for Tooway Internet via satellite has some important differences compared to the consumer solution, such as:

• A fixed IP address.
• All ports are open, all protocols for such things as security cameras and recorders with pushing video work.
• No speed limitation before the total volume is consumed.
• Suitable for VPN - IP sec in combination with a Pro modem.
• PC or router directly accessible from the Internet.

Subscription (consumer)

The Tooway KA-SAT internet service for consumers is categorized into 2 different categories with 6 different subscription types each.

A Fair Access Policy applies here; this is to ensure that extreme internet usage by some users does not negatively affect other users with normal internet. Because of this Policy, the total available data from the satellite is distributed equally among Tooway's end users. Limits apply to accumulated download and upload traffic in a 4-week period. After 4 weeks, consumption is reset. Limits are also assigned to so-called 'Multiple Sliding Time Windows (STW)' of 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, 1 week and 4 weeks, where you can see below how much data you are allowed to consume within these time frames. If you use more data than allowed within a given time frame, you will enter the Fair Access Policy and your speed will temporarily decrease until you are in the next time frame.

free at night - Between 01:00 and 06:00 local time, no data is charged or billed. So the ideal time for backup, downloading movies, performing software updates and Apple iCloud synchronization.

Maximum upload - Every subscription has a limit in terms of maximum data upload. After this volume is reached, the upload speed is limited to 256 Kbps.

Reduced speed - After the data volume is reached, the speed is limited to the stated speed. As an additional note, 3 Mbps is comparable in speed to a functioning ADSL connection.
