OneWeb
p>OneWeb provides -worldwide- broadband internet connections via satellite. Part of the French Eutelsat Group, OneWeb provides internet services, particularly to regions that are difficult to reach via traditional methods such as (fibre) cable or LTE. OneWeb's network -at present- consists of about 650 satellites, with plans to expand this number (substantially) to provide a European alternative to Starlink.
OneWeb's satellites are in low earth orbit (LEO), allowing it to offer lower latency times (delays) than satellites operating at higher altitudes.
OneWeb provides internet services to various sectors, including:
- Telecom operators and internet service providers; to provide internet access to their customers, especially in areas lacking traditional infrastructure.
- Governments and government agencies; to provide internet connectivity for various uses, such as peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, first responders, security services and military operations.
- Airline companies; to provide internet connectivity on board aircraft.
- Other (business) customers: for various applications and needs, also particularly in areas where traditional infrastructure is not present.
In challenging geographical areas where traditional broadband internet is struggling, OneWeb stands out as a reliable, alternative solution. It ensures that users in such remote and hard-to-reach areas experience a stable internet connection, based on their needs.
