An Iridium satellite phone has a worldwide coverage, better then comparable phones from for instance Globalstar or Inmarsat. This because of the large(r) network of Iridium existing of 'low earth orbit' satellites in polar orbits. The configuration of this network makes sure that a satellite which radiates with a (decent) angle to the earth, also has reach in (deep) mountain valleys and canyons. If you travel to the polar areas, then Iridium is the only provider with coverage for satellite communication.

It's possible to send sms text messages at the same time with your Iridium 9575 sat phone. The text message even contains a link to an online map so people at home can see your location.

With the integrated GPS receiver in the Iridium 9575 satellite phone you can see your exact position / location with the blink of an eye. You van text or email your position to each address, direct from your phone. This makes the Iridium 9575 satellite phone a powerfull safety tool.

SOS button: with only one push on the button you can send easily and quick an email or text message to one or several persons to make an emergency call. The message also contains your GPS location. If required, the SOS button can do simulteneously a call to a pre-selected number.

Extreme wheather proof: a number of customers of Iridium mentioned that there are messages spread around the world that the Iridium 9575 waterproof is up to 10 feet deep! This is unfortunately not true, but the Iridium 9575 EXTREME sat phone is very wheather proof and has an IP65 ingress rating. With the wheather proof materials at the right place, the sat phone even has survived a test with a very agressive liquid, where the water was projected from a 6.3 mm nozzle against the outside of the phone. Without any damage! Even during a 3 minute  long exposure to 12.5 liters per minute. The Iridium 9575 satellite phone is not waterproof, but Outfitter Satellite offers a waterproof case.

Diamond tread - ergonomic grip.

Can leave een breadcrumb trail: with a view simple adjustments to the default settings it's possible to configure your Iridium 9575 satellite phone in such a way that it automatically transfers your GPS position at simultaneous time intervals. This can be very usefull when possible rescuers are doing their best to rescue you when you are 'disappeared' into the wild (and time is ticking). This will comfort the home front. Professional web-based tracking services are available for more advanced tracking applications.

Optional AxcessPoint Hotspot allows email reception of sending from your PC, Mac, iPhone, Android smartphone or Blackberry. The supplied software with the AxcessPoint allows internet browsing, but with an internet speed of 2400 bps web browsing demands a lot of patience.

Docking stations are available for indoor use or below-deck use when an external mast antenna or low-profile auto antenna is required.

Up to 4 hour 'call time' or 30 hour standby time is available when recharged. If required, solar-based batteries are available.

Push-To-Talk (PTT) extension

With the (optional) Push-To-Talk (PTT) extension you can turn the Iridium Extreme 9575 satphone into a satellite transceiver, which can be used worldwide -without additional call charges- to communicati with each other. At least two devices with PTT function need to be acivated within a Talkgroup.

A Talkgroup can exist of one ore more regions, worldwide spread and cover an area up from 100,000 km2 or more. A PTT handset can be part of multiple talkgroups.

A subscription is required for the use of the Push-To-Talk (PTT) optione. This subscription is based on a fixed mothly fee, depends on the size of the area and region. For coverage in the Middle East other rates are applicable then for instance in other parts of the world. Additional call charges are NOT applicable. Please check:
