The Beam Iridium RST740 active antenna is suitable for use in both land and marine environments, requiring the use of longer cable lengths to connect the antenna to the terminal.
When an installation requires a longer cable than 20 m, the recommendation is to use an active/powered Iridium antenna. Then it is possible to use much thinner and cheaper cables (up to +/-100 m), where this would never be possible with a passive Iridium antenna.
The RST704 active antenna can be combined with all Beam products and all Iridium devices, but in terms of connection require an approved Beam active antenna cable to control the power gain over the RF line to the antenna.
